First of all, this article is not about traditional wooden spoons, plastic spoons, ceramic spoons or metal spoons. I will show you a new way of packaging honey.

1.What is honey spoon?

2. Structure of honey spoon

This new type of easy-tear honey package spoon consists of spoon handle, spoon body and easy-tear film. The spoon handle is connected with the spoon body. The spoon body holds honey and is sealed with the easy-tear film. The easy-tear film has four layers, namely adhesive layer (01), non-stick layer (02), easy-tear layer (03) and printing layer (04). From the inside to the outside, it is non-stick layer (02), easy-tear layer (03) and printing layer (04) in sequence. These layers are firmly laminated. The adhesive layer (01) is coated on the spoon body opening edge. This new package has simple structure. It is also convenient for consumers to bring it with and to access it since the spoon can not only hold honey but also be used to stir and scoop the drink. Honey contacts the non-stick layer but will not stick on the film so that waste can be greatly reduced..

3. Features of honey spoon

1) This easy-tear honey package spoon is composed of spoon handle, spoon body and easy-tear film. The spoon handle is connected with the spoon body. Honey is packed in the spoon body and then the spoon body is sealed with the easy-tear film. The easy-tear film includes four layers, namely adhesive layer (01), non-stick layer (02), easy-tear layer (03) and printing layer (04). The latter three layers are laminated in sequence with the non-stick layer contacting honey. The adhesive layer (01) is coated on the spoon body opening edge and sealed with the non-stick layer (02).

2) According to the feature 1, this spoon package can have the following features: a) for every spoon package, the easy-tear film is larger than the spoon body opening; b) the easy-tear film is heat sealed on the spoon body opening; c) the heat seal width is equal to or smaller than the spoon body opening edge width.

3) According to the feature 2, this spoon package can have the following feature: the adhesive layer (01) width is larger than or equal to the heat seal width.

4) According to the feature 1, this spoon package can have the following features: a) the part of the easy-tear film extending to the spoon handle is not heat sealed and can be peeled; b) the unsealed peeling part is located at the joint of the spoon body and the spoon handle.

5) According to the feature 4, this spoon package can have the following features: a) there is a bulge (05) at the joint of the spoon handle and the spoon body; b) this bulge (05) is below the unsealed peeling part and can jack it up.

6) According to the claim 4, this spoon package can have the following features: a) there is a holding sign (06) on one side of the spoon handle near to the spoon body; b) the holding sign is near to the unsealed peeling part.

7) According to the feature 1, this spoon package can have the following features: a) the easy-tear layer (03) is alu foil or tin foil; b) the printing layer (04) adopts screen printing film; c) the adhesive layer (01) adopts hot melting glue.

8) According to the feature 1, this spoon package can have the following feature: the spoon body adopts honeycomb pattern.

4. Package for honey

Current honey packages on the market are not perfect. For example, honey will overflow while people are accessing it. Since honey is of strong viscosity, it will cost people more to clean the overflow honey. We can see different honey packages such as bottle, blister and sachet. Bottle has large size which makes carrying inconvenient. And it’s necessary to scoop out honey for honey access. Besides, after the bottle is opened, people should finish the remained honey in a short time. On the other hand, although sachets can be brought with conveniently, people still need a spoon for honey drinking. When the convenience is considered, neither bottle nor sachet is the package for people’s comfortable and convenient honey access.

Mono dose blister is also convenient for us to take with, it can fill the honey into round or rectangular shape of blister at different volume, it is very common to be used in restaurant, airplane, outdoor camping etc.

Compared with the other techniques, honey spoon has the following advantages:

a. It’s convenient to carry the package and to access honey since the spoon can not only package honey but also be used to stir and scoop the drink.

b. The easy-tear film is heat sealed with the spoon body opening edge. And there will be no burrs due to the set of adhesive layer.

c. The layer of the easy-tear film contacting honey is non-stick so that honey doesn’t stick on the film and waste can be reduced.

d. The outside printing layer can show goods information and make up for the deficiency of the easy-tear layer’s easy tearing.

Explanation

As the figures 1-5 show, this new type of easy-tear honey package spoon consists of spoon handle, spoon body and easy-tear film. The spoon handle is connected to the spoon body and the spoon body holds honey insides. The spoon body opening is then sealed with easy-tear film. The easy-tear film is laminated from non-stick layer (02), easy-tear layer (03) and printing layer (04) from inside to outside and the adhesive layer (01) is set on the spoon body opening edge to stick the non-stick layer (02) on the spoon body.

This package spoon can not only hold honey but also be used as the spoon to stir and scoop the honey drink, which is pretty convenient for consumers. Besides, the honey is packaged in the amount consumed per eating occasion. Consumers will not be troubled by difficult amount determination. The spoon body excluding the easy-tear film can also be absolutely put into the solvent to make no honey remain in the container. In addition, the non-stick layer (02) is coated with non-stick material. The non-stick material has a contact angle larger than 90° to honey which means honey will not soak into the non-stick layer. The non-stick layer contacts honey but hardly absorbs honey. As less honey sticks on the layer, honey waste can be greatly reduced.

The easy-tear film is larger than the spoon body opening for easy peeling. The film is heat sealed with the spoon body. The heat seal width is no less than that of both spoon body opening edge and adhesive layer (01). The adhesive layer (01) is set at the contact of easy-tear film and the spoon body opening edge to reduce its consumption and to prevent honey from sticking on the easy-tear film.

One part of the easy-tear film extends to the spoon handle and this extended part is not heat sealing for easy film peeling. This unsealed peeling part is above the joint of spoon body and spoon handle where a bulge (05) is set. The bulge (05) is under the unsealed peeling part and can jack it up. And a holding sign (06) is marked on the spoon handle near to the spoon body and to the unsealed peeling part.

With the unsealed peeling part, the easy-tear film can be peeled conveniently. As the bulge (05) jacks up the unsealed peeling part, consumers can nip the part easily. They can hold the spoon handle with one hand and peel the easy-tear film with the other hand. However, if the spoon handle is too long and some consumers are used to holding the spoon handle end, honey might spill. Therefore, a holding sign (06) is set near to the spoon body. Consumers can hold at the holding sign and then peel the easy-tear film. The reaction force against peeling can reduce vibration and avoid honey spilling.

The easy-tear layer (03) is alu foil or tin foil, the printing layer (04) adopts screen printing layer and the adhesive layer (01) adopts hot melting glue. Traditional easy-tear film consists of only easy-tear layer (alu foil or tin foil). While being peeled, such film has burrs and can be torn easily. Besides, honey can soak into the film and then stick on it. However, the non-stick layer (02) of the new-type easy-tear film contacts honey but hardly absorb it. The non-stick layer (02) is sealed with the spoon body with the adhesive layer between them to avoid burrs of peeling. The printing layer (04) can show goods information and compensate for the defect of easy-tear layer (03). The adhesive layer (01) and the non-stick layer (02) are both food-grade, adopting nano-coating for instance.

The spoon body convex is embossed with honeycomb pattern. Such a pattern can adorn the product and suggest that the product is about honey. For another thing, the pattern can slow down honey flowing during transport. Besides, the spoon handle is foldable, considering the reduction of spoon volume during transport. The unfolded spoon handle can be so long that consumers can still use it conveniently. The spoon body and the spoon handle is formed in one piece and made from food-grade plastics.

6. How to make honey spoon

How to make honey spoon? Honey spoon is made on the honey spoon filling and sealing machine, there are full automatic and semi automatic machine, the main working process are as following:
