And then different working principles can be explained for different measuring methods.
Powder packing machine generally measure powder by volume or weight.(Powder packing machine measurement)
1) Measuring by volume
Volume quantitative filling means that material is quantitatively filled by controlling its volume. Quantitative auger filling machine is such a machine, measuring material by volume. Its advantages is its simple structure. No weighing device is needed, so that the machine can save cost but improve filling efficiency. It also obtains some disadvantages such as fluctuating filling accuracy since material properties, such as apparent specific gravity, granule size uniformity, hygroscopicity and degree of looseness, can all influence filling accuracy. Therefore, the proper material for volume quantitative filling machine should be powder of uniform size, stable bulk density and good fluidity.
Volume quantitative filling can also be classified into two types. One is to control material volume by controlling material flow rate and time, namely, by controlling auger rotation speed and time or controlling vibrating time of vibrating feeder. The other type is to measure material volume with some measuring containers, such as measuring cylinder, measuring cup or plunger.
There is a common problem existing in the above both filling methods: How to stabilize material’s bulk density? Normally, vibration, mixing, nitrogen and vacuum can all be helpful. In the circumstance where high filling accuracy is required, automatic detector can be set to detect material’s apparent specific gravity continuously and then control filling accordingly for precise filling volume.
2) Measuring by weight
Weight quantitative filling can guarantee filling accuracy by controlling the weight of material to be filled. Compared with the filling method mentioned above, it is more complex and expensive but more lowly efficient. Its target material always features non-uniform granules size, unstable bulk density and even higher price. At present, there are mechanical lever scale, electronic scale and mechatronic scale for weight quantitative filling. Material feeding is also classified into single-stage feeding and multi-stage feeding depending on particular feeding way. For higher precision and feeding speed, the machine is feeding material in multiple stages and weighing material at the same time.
