Quality Requirements for Pharmaceutical Alu Foil

Raw material for pharmaceutical alu foil is industrial pure alu foil. It is normally 0.02mm thick and its tensile strength and rapture strength can reach 98KPa and 90KPa respectively. The material for pharmaceutical alu foil is 99% electrolytic aluminum which is treated by extension. It is also featured by clean and smooth surface, no crease, no impression, no damage, no flakes of fluorescent material, no smell, no toxicity and good electrical conductivity, shading property, moisture resistance and air resistance. Its surface wetting tension is not lower than 32.

The requirements on pinholes of pharmaceutical alu foil is that the number of pinholes with diameter within 0.1-0.3mm cannot be more than 1 per square meter. But pinholes are insufficiency of transparency and oxygen, water vapor and light will permeate through the pinholes to weaken effect of drugs or health-care products. Therefore, the requirements on pinholes are very strict. In addition, if alu foil is 10% thicker than the required, coating amount to adhesion layer and protection layer will be affected.

The alu foil for blister package is a kind of material which is sealed with plastic sheet, also called lidding material or PTP pharmaceutical alu foil. It is made of hard industrial alu foil and has advantages of no toxicity, corrosion resistance, no permeation, hygiene, heat resistance, moisture resistance and so on. As a result, it can be sterilized and disinfected easily and can prevent drugs from being influenced by light. Before sealing, lidding material is printed with patterns and characters and coated with protection agent at one side and adhesive at the other side.

The purpose of coating protection agent is to protect patterns and character from damage and prevent inner adhesion layer from being contaminated by printing ink while rolling. And the purpose of adhesive is to strengthen adhesion of alu foil with plastic sheet.
